Savage's: The Essentials, Beer and Bar Food
Savage's Ale House, located in downtown Muncie, is just a great place to kick back and enjoy a beer and a good burger. With a wonderfully wide selection of beers and a relatively large food menu, Savage's beats out more expensive places like Scotty's Brewhouse, and eating or drinking there does not only save you money, but supports a local business. The bar resides in an older building, resulting in a rustic interior with high ceilings. Daily specials help you stretch your buck. The burgers are delicious, and cooked perfectly, and their french fries are the crinkle cut kind (the best kind). So the next time you are hankering for a burger and a beer, head down to Savage's, you won't regret it.
Damask Adds Variety to Muncie Palette
Damask Cafe, Eastern Mediterranean Grill is a breath of fresh air for Muncie diners. It has been a painfully long wait for a Mediterranean restaurant to appear in this campus town. The menu is relatively small, but still allows for variety, ranging from falafel wraps to summac chicken. It is reasonably priced; entrees average about $12 (wraps are cheaper), and are sizable portions that come with pilaf, salad, and a choice of soup, spinach, or fried potatoes. I recommend the lamb kabobs, they were very tender, and the salad was fresh and delicious.
Sitara, A Shining Light in a Sea of Darkness
Muncie's only Indian restaurant, Sitara, shines out in a town full of Applebee's, Chili's, and other huge chain restaurants. The food is delicious, and moderately priced, averaging about $12 for dinner entrees. A lunch buffet is featured, and vegetarian and vegan options are available.
